The Tar Sands Monster of Alberta, Canada, risks runaway climate change and a local ecological disaster, with profound consequences for local indigenous communities such as the Beaver Lake Cree.

Not willing to stand by and watch their ancestral lands be destroyed, this inspiring community has launched a legal challenge to stop further developments within these territories, taking on not just the governments of Alberta and Canada, but also virtually every major oil company in the world.

As part of The Co-operative's Toxic Fuels campaign, it is championing the Beaver Lake Cree's cause, viewing their legal challenge as perhaps the best hope we have to stop the rapidly expanding tar sands developments.

'The Beaver Lake Cree vs The Tar Sands Monster' t-shirts are exclusively designed by world-renowned artist Pete Fowler and meet high ethical standards. Every penny from their sale goes to a charitable trust set up to support the Beaver Lake Cree's legal challenge.

 Pete Fowler is a critically acclaimed illustrator, painter and monster creator who has exhibited around the world, he is the creator of the 'world of monsterism', has designed record sleeves and music videos for the Super Furry Animals and Magic Numbers, designed toys for the Mighty Boosh, and done corporate work for Faberge and Vidal Sassoon amongst others.

The t-shirts are manufactured by Earth Positive Apparel using 100% certified organic cotton and 100% renewable energy, they have a 90% smaller carbon footprint than normal t-shirts (verified by the Carbon Trust) and ethical labour practices throughout the supply chain (verified by the Fair Wear Foundation).
